About Shamika
Shamika is the mother of Draylen Mason, a 17-year old gifted musician, martial artist, and global citizen who was tragically killed in the 2018 Austin Bombings. In honor of his legacy, Shamika serves as a board member of the Draylen Mason Fellows Program.
The Draylen Mason Fellows Program honors the legacy of Draylen by furthering the musical and personal development of a select group of high school students. She also services on the board for Austin Sound Waves, an organization that was fundamental in shaping Draylen into the musician he was. Austin Soundwaves serves student musicians across the greater Austin area, providing diverse opportunities for learners of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences. She is an HR professional currently serving as a Compensation Analyst. She has over 15 years of HR experience to include Compensation, Leave and Benefits, and Employee Relations in the non-profit and retail sector. She holds a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management and is a SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resource Management – Certified Professional). Shamika is a native of Austin. Shamika attends Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, where she serves as a Trustee and Greeter. Shamika loves to travel and spending quality time with her family and friends. |
